Our Approach

How a McNamara Wealth client relationship actually works, from the first conversation to the ongoing review.

The McNamara WealthMap

Every client relationship begins with the WealthMap. It is our application of the six-step financial planning process set out by the Financial Planning Standards Board, the global standard followed by CFP® professionals worldwide.

Establish the relationship

We start with a conversation about how we work, what you can expect from us, and what we need from you. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed upfront, so there are no surprises later.

Gather your information

We collect all your details in the one place, from pensions and investments to property, protection and business interests. For most clients, it is the first time everything has been seen side by side.

Analyse your position

We assess where you stand today, what is working, what is not, what it is costing you, and where the gaps are. This is the diagnostic stage, where experience matters most.

Develop your plan

We build the recommendations, each one modelled in real numbers so you can see the impact before any decision is made. We present it in plain language and answer every question until you are comfortable.

Implement the plan

We put the plan into action, applications, transfers, restructuring and provider liaison. We handle the administration and paperwork, so the moving parts are managed for you and nothing is left half done.

Monitor your progress

We meet at agreed intervals to check progress against the plan and adjust for any change in your circumstances or goals. This is what keeps the plan working long after the day it was built.

Fee transparency

Every fee is agreed in advance and reported clearly for as long as we work together.

  • Clear before you commit. Once we understand what's involved, you will know exactly what the fee is, and nothing is charged without your agreement.
  • Built around you. Every fee reflects the complexity of your own circumstances.
  • Aligned with your outcome. Our structure is built so your progress and ours move together.
  • Visible at every step. Ongoing charges are reported clearly through your platform statement.

Our investment philosophy

  • Process over prediction. A disciplined, repeatable process guides every decision we make.
  • Risk matched to you. Portfolios are built around your own capacity and appetite for risk.
  • Built for the long term. Positioning is set with your long-term goals at the centre.
  • Continually reviewed. Your strategy is monitored and adjusted as your circumstances evolve.

We come to you

Most advisory firms ask you to come to them, sit across a desk, and fit your financial life into their office hours. We work the other way around.

We meet you wherever suits you best. For most of our clients that is at home or at their business, where the conversation is more relaxed and everything you need is close to hand. For others it is a video call between commitments, or a coffee somewhere convenient. The advice fits around your life, not the other way round.

It is a deliberately personal way of working, and it is only possible because we serve a limited number of clients.

Who is McNamara Wealth for?

We work best with people whose financial lives have grown beyond straightforward answers. If any of the following sounds familiar, it is worth a conversation.

No one is connecting the pieces

You have a pension, investments and a business interest, but no adviser who joins them up.

A significant event is approaching

A sale, a retirement, an inheritance, or a transition you have not faced before.

Wealth without structure

You have accumulated wealth over time but are not confident it is arranged as well as it could be.

A silent adviser

You have an adviser, but you cannot remember the last time they proactively came to you with something.

Products without advice

You are paying for financial products. You are not sure you are paying for financial advice.
